The HJC RPHA 71 is the brand new full-face helmet from the brand HJC and is the successor to the HJC RPHA-70. One of the main differences is the ECE 22.06 certification on the RPHA71. Its predecessor (RPHA70) was one of the best sport-touring helmets available, and according to HJC, they improved the RPHA 71 on the protection it provides, the noise reduction and aerodynamics.

The RPHA 71 will compete with other premium sport-touring helmets such as theShoei GT Air 2, AGV K6, Shark Spartan GT Pro Carbon, Bell Star DLX MIPS, Arai Profile-V, Scorpion EXO-1400 EVO Carbon and the Shoei NXR 2

Material

The RPHA 71 is made out of HJC’s (PIM) Premium Integrated Matrix EVO . PIM EVO includes Carbon-aramid, Carbon, Fiberglass, organic non-woven fabric and natural linen fiber to provide an even better protection and a lighter helmet. So the combination of these materials resulted in a fiberglass helmet that ensures that the outer shell from HJC consist of multiple layers of material for an optimal protection and comfort.

The helmet from HJC also has a multi density EPS inner shell for even more safety.

The RPHA 71 comes in 6 sizes and 4 outer shell sizes. The more outer shell sizes a helmet has the better. A smaller outer shell not only looks better and more compact, it is also a lot safer.
Visor

The visor of the RPHA 71 is the HJ-40 visor which is anti-fog treated and Pinlock Lens prepared. The Pinlock lens that is included in the box is a 120 pinlock Lens. A Pinlock lens ensures that your visor never fogs up while riding, which is one of the best features a visor can have.

The RPHA 71 also uses a new visor lock system. The visor lock system is a push and release system. When your visor is closed you have a slider that you can push forward to release and open the visor. This prevents the visor from accidentally opening.

The helmet also has an integrated sun visor which is also anti-fog treated and functions as sun glasses to protect your eyes from the sun. The new sun visor can be adjusted in depth in 3 different positions. Compared to default position this means that the sun-visor can go 5 mm and 10 mm forward. This could ensure a better fit and be put in the position of you preference. This sun visor can easily be operated by a slider on the side, at the bottom of the helmet
Comfort

The inner-lining of the RPHA 71 is removable, washable and anti-bacterial. The advanced anti-bacterial fabric that provides an even better moisture wicking, and has a quick-dry function. This minimizes unpleasant smells in the helmet. The cheek pads are changeable for an even better fit.
Features

The HJC RPHA 71 is tested according to the new ECE 22.06 certification which is becoming mandatory for manufacturers. This new test is stricter than the ECE 22.05 certification, and the biggest difference is that more material is used to pass this new test. The helmet is wind tunnel tested which resulted in a more aerodynamic design that ensures a more stable helmet while riding at higher speeds and a more quite helmet. HJC is one of the few manufacturers with its own state of the art wind tunnel.

The helmet also comes with a Quick Release which is a big safety we see on the high-end models such as this one. This makes sure the helmet can be removed easily and safely in case something happens. The helmet also has a double-d closure.

The RPHA 71 is also prepared for a HJC SMART 50B communication system or HJC SMART 21B communication system. The RPHA 71 is prepared for these two specific communications systems which means that these systems can fully be integrated into the helmet when installed.

The last thing we are going to mention is that there is a cut-out in the EPS inner shell so that people with glasses won’t have any problems having their glasses on while riding.
